Math 1 Central

Before you get started, familiarize yourself with the lessons in Ray’s Primary Arithmetic. Get a sense of how it is teaching your child to think logically and yet naturally. Also, marvel at how different it is from modern math textbooks and “progressive” (and especially Common Core) teaching techniques.

Understand that this is oral, visual and tactile instruction. The written part comes only after each new concept or idea has been introduced, reinforced and fully grasped mentally. Your child will let you know if and when this has happened (or not).

Simple yet sophisticated!

Spend whatever time you need to make sure he or she not only “learns” the lesson, but masters it.
